When having friends and family over, things can sometimes become a bit of a squeeze and it can be difficult to find space for everybody. Unfortunately you may have to limit how many people you can have over otherwise you may need to ask your guests to be willing to be crammed into your home like sardines. If you are struggling though then you may find that you wish you could take some home decorating tips from a certain time travelling Doctor (Dr. Who) that lives in a blue police box. Although you may not literally be able to make your home bigger on the inside than it is on the outside just like the Tardis is, however, there are still some things you can do to give yourself more space.
Fold Away Furniture
One thing that you never see inside the Tardis is tables and chairs yet the doctor and his assistant must eat and drink somewhere. It is unlikely that they sit on the floor so what is likely is that the Doctor uses fold away furniture that can be stored away when not being used so he has more space whenever he needs it. If you have fold away furniture in your home then you could choose to put it away after every use or, as most people prefer, put it away only when you need the extra space. If your home does seem to have little space available because it is taken up by tables, chairs and other furniture try considering where fold away furniture might be able to create some more space for you to use.
Take the Party Outside
Although Britain’s cold, wet and windy weather is not ideal for being outside in you could try to move some things outside if needed. If you have a garage then a heater could provide some comfort from the warmth although of course the summertime would be a much better time to have any kind of party outdoors. You could also consider hiring a marquee if you have the space and with specialist heating systems for marquees and other outdoor structures, your guests could forget that it is winter at all. By hiring the right equipment to take your party outside you could have a lot more space for hosting your party after all.
The Tardis has seen many facelifts over the years and it is almost inevitable that the Doctor has had an extension or two built and you can do the same. Perhaps you could have a conservatory built in the back garden so you can use the space when it may otherwise be too cold. Maybe you have a basement you could have converted and a loft conversion is another very popular way of making use of space in your home that would otherwise be left empty. Although the Doctor may be a little too busy to spare the time to lend us his own home decorating tips, you should find that any decent builder will be able to help you get more from the space that is available to you in your home.
You could try building an extra bedroom for guests, a dining room for entertaining or maybe knocking two rooms into one. There are many things you could do to make more space available to you and a look on the internet or in magazines could give you lots of great ideas. Remember though that although the Doctor doesn’t have any issues with planning permission that’s largely because, as a time lord, he is exempt. With this in mind, unless you are also a time lord then you will need to get planning permission before going ahead. With the right ideas and help from a good builder, your home could soon be the ideal place to place to hold parties and even the great Doctor Who could be envious of your venue.
If you are low on space and would like to make better use of what you do have available to you, a bespoke lofts company should be able to deliver just what you need.
